Programme overview
The John Smith Trust, in partnership with the Scottish government, is supporting Ukraine and its leaders who work in innovation, digitalization and private sector development by building bridges and creating collaborative connections between Scotland and Ukraine, that will play an important role in upcoming recovery and reconstruction.
Ukrainian leaders will exchange their knowledge and experience from their professional sectors and share it with Scottish counterparts.
Applicant requirements
We are looking for five exceptional leaders, aged 25-40, who speak English and have experience in:
- innovation
- transparency
- e-governance
- crisis management
- digitalization as a tool for collaboration between authorities and civil society.
Programme details
Scotland will present its best practices in inspiration and people empowerment, participatory citizen engagement and building a state with a strong focus on people, supporting civil society and interest in developing collaborative leadership, using modern technologies and opportunities. The programme includes:
- Development of leadership and communication skills
- Roundtable discussions with Scotland’s leading policy-analysts and policy-makers
- Knowledge sharing meetings and workshops with Scottish counterparts
- Visit to Scottish Parliament and discussions with parliamentarians
Participants from our Ukrainian Women Leadership Programme who are based in Scotland and working in relevant roles will contribute to the programme and work to bridge the learning between Scotland and Ukraine.
The full programme will consist of the seven-day residential programme in Scotland followed by continued online engagement, a 6-12-month follow-up activity facilitated by senior Ukrainian John Smith Fellows and lifelong membership of the John Smith Trust Fellows’ network and activities.
