Akylbek Bakytov

Akylbek Bakytov is a development economist and policy practitioner from the Kyrgyz Republic working at the intersection of energy security and public policy. He currently serves as a Consultant at UNFPA and is a member of the World Energy Council’s Future Energy Leaders programme, becoming the first participant from the Kyrgyz Republic selected to the network.

His previous work includes electricity system modelling under the EU-funded SECCA project, with a focus on renewable integration, system adequacy and regional connectivity in Central Asia. Akylbek is particularly interested in strengthening the dialogue on energy transition, governance and resilience across Central Asia.
