Antonina Santalova

Social Policy (DPhil) at Oxford University

Antonina is currently pursuing a DPhil degree in Social Policy at Oxford University in the UK after successfully completing the MPhil programme at Oxford University. Her interests include research into the narrative of leaders and managers involved in the decentralization and modernization of public services.

Before coming to the UK Antonina was Country Director of PEAKS – Participation, Education and Knowledge Strengthening project in Kyrgyzstan. PEAKS was a four-year USAID regional project aimed at supporting the development of the basic education sector in Central Asia. From 2003 it was implemented in four countries of Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The consortium implementing the PEAKS Project comprised of the Academy for Education Development, the Open Society Institute/National Foundations, Save the Children Alliance and Abt Associates Inc. The project aimed to provide quality education for all, increase the level of parent and child involvement, and the improvement of curricula and school infrastructures.
