Louisa Long

Programme Manager

As the John Smith Trust’s Programmes Manager (maternity cover), Louisa is responsible for the delivery of the organisation’s Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia fellowship programmes.

Louisa has a longstanding interest in the former Soviet Union. Prior to joining the Trust in 2022, she worked as Information Officer at the BEARR Trust – a UK-based organisation which supports grassroots healthcare charities in the region. She has a BA in French and Russian from Cambridge University and a Master’s in International Relations and Diplomacy from SOAS University. After completing her BA, Louisa worked as a solicitor for three years and she remains interested in the promotion of the rule of law and access to justice, particularly in relation to migrants’ rights. She has volunteered for migrant support services for several years and continues to do so in Hackney Migrant Centre’s Access to Justice team.
