Launch of new leadership programme for Ukrainian women in UK

On International Women’s Day we are excited to announce our new leadership programme for Ukrainian women displaced by the current conflict and living in the UK.

Elizabeth Smith, chair of the John Smith Trust, says: “The programme will support Ukrainian female leaders working towards the longer-term goal of supporting a resilient and sustainable recovery in Ukraine.”

We are proud to partner with the University of Edinburgh Business School on the development of such programmes that build and foster relationships between women in leadership roles in the UK and Ukraine.

Strategy, community development and leadership

The four-day residential leadership programme will be held in Edinburgh in June 2024. A team of academics and practitioners with expertise in strategy, community development, communications and leadership will provide practical tools drawing from international examples including Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Balkans.

We are looking for applicants with a professional background and ideally leadership responsibilities; experience of studying or working in an English-speaking context; and the ability to fully immerse in a residential programme.

How to apply

We are inviting Ukrainian women currently living in Scotland to apply by Friday 26 April 2024 via this link.

We will contact shortlisted applicants on or before Monday 6 May, when they will have an opportunity to discuss the programme with a member of the team.

A maximum of 15 places are available and participants will be selected based on a range of factors including work experience, English language ability, and availability. For any questions, please email  executive@business-school.ed.ac.uk.

What’s included?

We will be covering the programme, catering and accommodation costs for successful participants. A travel fund is also available to reimburse the costs of travelling to and from Edinburgh.

The programme is being delivered with the support of the Scottish Government, University of Edinburgh Business School and John Smith Trust and friends.
